Beckhoff’s complete AI ecosystem responds to this challenge: it is an integrated, easy-to-use system solution that is available from a single source. This modular System integrates all components into a control IPC with Twincat automation software. This makes engineering, maintenance, and system expansion much easier. The ecosystem for industrial AI applications offers various PLC-integrated execution modules for trained AI models. These can access both the computing resources of the CPU and those of an Nvidia GPU. These modules load AI models in the open standard ONNX format. Typically, special AI frameworks such as PyTorch or Scikit-learn were used for training. As these frameworks are primarily intended for AI experts, Beckhoff offers a simple and more user-friendly solution with the new Twincat Machine Learning Creator. It allows automation and process experts to create AI models even if they don’t have a background in data science. The web-based approach guides you through the steps, including data upload, model training, and model analysis and ONNX download, and aims to standardize the training process for AI models. Beckhoff’s AI ecosystem also includes the right hardware. In addition to vision components such as cameras, optics, and illumination, it includes an IPC portfolio that is finely scalable in terms of computing power and form factor. The C6043 ultra-compact Industrial PC is specially designed for vision and AI applications.
